Applications for work or residence visas based on partnership are our specialty. In the last 8 years we have had only two declines for such applications. In those declines the applicants were advised they would not succeed because of various significant issues but they insisted that the applications be lodged.
If we believe you will not succeed you will be clearly advised of this.
What do you need to show? The basis of an application is that you are living together with a New Zealand citizen or residence holder in a relationship that is genuine and stable for at least 12 months. You will have to provide evidence that you are living together; this can be rental agreements, utility bills and letters from friends or family confirming the relationship.
The relationship must be genuine and the parties must show they are building a life together that is intended to be for the long term.
As with all applications, you must be able to show that you have good health and no adverse police or criminal record.
